This position assists the International Trade & Compliance team with a comprehensive export and import compliance program, focusing on those matters covered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Commerce and Department of Treasury. The position is involved in all aspects of trade compliance and will own the duty drawback process.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end duty drawback process, including identification, calculation, preparation, submission to provider, and tracking of claims
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and applicable trade laws
- Maintain accurate documentation and records to support drawback claims and audits
- Coordinate with internal teams (logistics, finance, procurement, operations) to collect required data and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor claim statuses, respond to CBP requests, and support audits or verifications
- Identify opportunities to maximize duty recovery and improve drawback processes
- Lead or participate in projects focused on process improvement, system enhancements, or regulatory changes
- Analyze data and prepare reports related to duty savings, compliance metrics, and project outcomes
- Assist with the implementation or optimization of trade compliance systems and tools
- Collaborate with external brokers, consultants, and government agencies as needed
- Ability to master and support the following: 1) The issuance of USMCA (and other free trade agreement) Certificates of Origin in compliance with applicable regulations and 2) The review and release of blocked orders and deliveries in GTS.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 1+ years of experience in international logistics and/or international trade compliance; OR Associates degree with 4+ years of experience in international logistics and/or international trade compliance
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must take responsibility for decisions but know when to seek management and/or team involvement.
- Must possess strong organizational, quick thinking and problem-solving skills and take initiative.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work in an international environment, building professional relationships with foreign entities and personnel.
- Must exercise flexibility in adapting to new requirements, systems and process/controls.
- Must maintain a working knowledge of drafting procedures and implementation of such.
- Must demonstrate interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Must take direction straightforwardly.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency and computer application skills are a must.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
