Overview

The Data Operations VP blends traditional data operations team leadership, ensuring projects are delivered on time while fostering a productive, motivated team environment. They will define processes, manage resources, mitigate risks, and coach team members, acting as a bridge between stakeholders and the team. The VP of Risk Solutions will report to the SVP RS Data Integrity & Reporting

Responsibilities

Risk Solutions Data Operations:

Lead and support a team of Analysts in Implementation and monthly processing of data, driving efficiency & continuity.

  • Develop & Drive Processing & Automation for RS client data feeds.
  • Ensure that processes are documented and that data adheres to policies, controls, standards, guidelines, definitions, & processes
  • Ensures that data is integrated and accessible to support the business.
  • Ensures data meets compliance requirements.
  • Constantly strive to improve data quality, eliminate redundancies, and standardize definitions.
  • Proactively identify operational risks, devise contingency plans, and remove roadblocks (blockers) for the team.
  • Build teams, assign responsibilities, provide coaching and mentorship, and resolve conflicts to ensure a high-performing environment.
  • Track KPIs, evaluate team performance, and adjust timelines or resources as needed.

Risk Solutions Process management.

Strategic leader is responsible for process management including the identification of process gaps and projects that will drive efficiency, accuracy, & accountability.

  • Serve as the operational expert on data process, interactions with all other departments to ensure ownership and responsibilities are clear & expectations are met and reported at regular intervals.
  • Support new initiatives, ensuring consistent data flow and adherence to data governance.
  • Support a Single Source of Truth for data where all reporting can be produced or replicated.
  • Monitor & report on data integrity and KPI achievement.
  • Routinely ask/report on the following key business drivers:
    • How do we improve our processes? What are the benefits of improved processes?
    • How are we innovating? What strategic advantages can be gained by adjusting processes?
    • How does operations contribute to increased revenue and decreased expense?
    • How does operations contribute to the Risk Solutions value proposition in our marketplace?
  • Create an expectation for Operational Excellence within RS.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Function as the central communication hub, providing regular progress updates to executives, clients, and team members.
  • Ensure that each RS functional group's initiatives consistently follow data integrity standards.
  • Build strong relationships with all teams,
  • Focus on delivering a best-in-class experience.
  • Mentor across team members to ensure an adequate pipeline of talent and cross training where viable to increase the flexibility of resource utilization.
  • Foster a diverse and collaborative team spirit.
  • Proficiency in Project Management tools, methodologies, and documentation.
  • Strong ability to motivate teams, foster collaboration, and communicate effectively.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in data operations, data management, or analytics within insurance / financial services
  • 3+ years of people leadership (managing analysts or data/operations teams)
  • Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end data processes (ingestion, validation, reporting, governance)
Data & Technical Expertise
    • Strong working knowledge of:
      • Data processing, ETL/data pipelines, and automation
      • Data governance, data quality controls, and compliance frameworks
    • Proficiency with common tools (SQL, data platforms, BI/reporting tools)
    • Experience supporting data integration across multiple systems and ensuring accessibility for business users
Process & Operational Leadership
      • Design, document, and optimize operational workflows and SOPs
      • Identify process gaps and implement scalable improvements
      • Drive standardization and “single source of truth” initiatives
      • Experience managing KPIs, SLAs, and performance metrics tied to operational delivery
Risk & Compliance Mindset
  • Data compliance, controls, and audit readiness
  • Risk identification and mitigation within operational/data environments
  • Experience partnering with compliance, underwriting, or finance teams (insurance context preferred)

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

    • Experience:
      • Leading cross-functional initiatives across business + technology
      • Acting as a central point of coordination/communication
      • Presenting updates and insights to senior leadership
    • Demonstrated ability to:
      • Coach and develop talent
      • Resolve conflict and build high-performing teams
    • Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and changing priorities

Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in:
      • Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Finance, or related field
    • Equivalent combination of experience accepted

Preferred

  • Experience in Specialty Risk, P&C insurance, or data integrity functions
  • Exposure to data engineering or cloud (Azure, Databricks, etc.) environments
  • Familiarity with financial / claims / premium reporting data structures
