This position is located in the Risk Management Agency (RMA), Deputy Administrator for Insurance Services (DAIS), Valdosta, GA Risk Management Region which serves Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Puerto Rico.

This position is designated as mobile work. Mobile work is a condition of employment and is characterized by routine and regular travel to conduct work in customer or other worksites as opposed to a single authorized alternative worksite. This job does not have an education qualification requirement. In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Time-in-Grade Requirement: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. You must meet this requirement by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for the GS-13 Senior Risk Management Specialist, you must demonstrate that you have specialized experience that includes knowledge and experience of programs, policies, procedures, and regulations applicable to insurance, reinsurance, and/or risk management and their interrelationship with insurance management functions and practices.

Specialized experience for the GS-13 level consists of the following: At least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience that is equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal service performing such duties as:

  • Using and evaluating crop insurance policy underwriting procedures and standards
  • Assessing crop insurance program performance
  • Providing technical advice and recommendations to resolve crop insurance program issues
