Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a Technology Architect with strong strategic, architectural, and influencing skills to lead enterprise technology initiatives focused on infrastructure, PCI compliance, vulnerability management, security posture improvement, and technology risk reduction. This role serves as a technology leader, partnering across applications, infrastructure, network, security, cloud, database, and platform teams to ensure secure technology delivery, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience.  The Technology Architect should have demonstrated experience building and supporting complex enterprise environments, with strong working knowledge of network architecture, security controls, cloud platforms, databases, middleware, operating systems, and infrastructure services. Ability to understand and influence the interactions between all technology components supporting critical business applications.

The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of end-to-end technology environments, including infrastructure design, environment provisioning, network architecture, security controls, databases, cloud platforms, middleware, and application hosting technologies. This individual will be responsible for driving enterprise-wide efforts related to PCI compliance, vulnerability remediation, infrastructure modernization, and technology risk management while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and business objectives.

Responsibilities include architecting and governing technology environments from initial build through production support, developing technology roadmaps, advising on secure solution designs, coordinating enterprise PCI assessments, driving vulnerability remediation efforts, and supporting ongoing compliance activities. The ideal candidate will influence senior leaders, drive accountability across multiple organizations, and lead complex initiatives where success depends on collaboration rather than direct authority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive PCI compliance, assessment, and remediation efforts across multiple technology teams.
  • Lead enterprise vulnerability management initiatives and partner with technical owners to ensure timely remediation of findings.
  • Provide architecture leadership for the design, build, implementation, and support of development, testing, certification, disaster recovery, and production environments.
  • Serve as the primary architecture advisor for infrastructure components including compute, network, storage, database, cloud, middleware, and security technologies.
  • Coordinate activities across applications, infrastructure, network, cloud, database, and security organizations to deliver secure and compliant solutions.
  • Develop and maintain architecture standards supporting secure, resilient, scalable, and compliant technology solutions.
  • Evaluate infrastructure, security, and platform technologies and provide strategic recommendations for adoption.
  • Identify technology risks and remediation strategies related to infrastructure, security, compliance, and operational resiliency.
  • Facilitate alignment between business objectives, security requirements, and technology solutions.
  • Provide leadership reporting and executive communication related to PCI compliance, vulnerabilities, remediation plans, infrastructure risk, and technology health.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to technology and business leadership on architecture, infrastructure strategy, security, compliance, and operational resilience.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of experience with development and implementation
  • 8+ years of experience with the concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of applications, information and underlying information technologies.

  • PCI DSS compliance and audit readiness
  • Vulnerability management and remediation programs
  • Enterprise, infrastructure, and solution architecture
  • Environment design, provisioning, and lifecycle management
  • Infrastructure, network, database, and cloud technologies
  • Information security, architecture, and security controls
  • Application delivery, deployment, and SDLC processes
  • IT governance, standards, policies, and procedures
  • Product and vendor evaluation
  • Technology roadmap development
  • Operational resiliency and disaster recovery planning

Preferred Skills/Experience

Working knowledge of:

  • Server, storage, database, network, and cloud platforms
  • Network segmentation, firewalls, load balancing, DNS, and connectivity services
  • Container technologies, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and DevSecOps practices
  • Security scanning, vulnerability management, and remediation tools
  • Identity and access management controls
  • Monitoring, logging, observability, and performance management platforms
  • Risk and compliance frameworks
  • Service-oriented and distributed architectures
  • Technology risk management

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $119,765.00 - $140,900.00
