Opportunity Overview

We are seeking an experienced member to join our team in Third Party Risk Management (TPRM). This is part of Edward Jones' (EDJ) Sourcing organization and manages the risks associated with EDJ's use of and reliance upon Third Party relationships across all business lines.

The Senior Risk and Control Associate is responsible for executing the Firms TPRM program by evaluating, monitoring, and managing risks associated with Third Party Service Providers in alignment with the Firm’s strategic objectives and in compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and legal agreements. This includes overseeing strategic and complex due diligence and risk mitigation efforts with cross-functional teams (e.g., Sourcing, Legal, Cyber, Privacy and Business Resilience) and collaborating with business stakeholders across the Firm.

What You Will Do:
  • Partner with Supplier Relationship Owners (SROs), Sourcing, and business stakeholders to assess inherent risks associated with third-party products and services.
  • Lead initial and ongoing due diligence activities to evaluate third-party providers' capabilities, regulatory compliance, and overall risk management effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional risk teams, including Cyber, Business Resilience, and Model Risk, to identify, assess, and escalate existing and emerging third-party risks.
  • Analyze risks against the firm's risk appetite and communicate key findings, recommendations, and mitigation strategies to business stakeholders and leadership.
  • Support the Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) governance framework through risk assessments, audits, reporting, and preparation of materials for senior leadership and risk committees.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and implementation of TPRM policies, standards, and procedures to address evolving risks, threats, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including prioritization, testing, communication, and rollout of enhancements to TPRM processes and technology solutions.
  • Provide guidance and education to business stakeholders on TPRM requirements, while staying current on industry trends, emerging risks, and professional development opportunities.

Position Requirements

What Experience You Need:
  • BS/BA degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in risk or specific field of related specialization
  • Experience focused on third-party performance and risk management
  • Experience with technology and tools that drive risk evaluation and tracks risks at the firm level
  • Experience in building relationships and networks, at varying levels in the organization
  • Ability to lead in an environment of significant change

  • Demonstrated risk management expertise with a strong understanding of Third-Party Risk Management best practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, risk subject matter experts, business partners, and external third parties.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and drive sound decision-making.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial and risk implications into actionable business decisions and alignment.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and apply sound judgment to influence outcomes and drive organizational decision-making.
  • Strategic thinker who provides thought leadership in complex and ambiguous situations, delivering change that supports business objectives and long-term strategic vision.
  • Systems-thinking mindset with the ability to understand the broader impact of decisions, proactively identify improvement opportunities, and support future-state capabilities and processes.

What Could Set You Apart:
  • 4-6 years' experience in risk background of related specialization
  • Experience in risk management, risk mitigation and/or risk assessment within the financial services industry
  • Certifications such as CTPRP, CISA, etc.
  • Familiarity with Coupa Risk Assess Platform

**Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week effective June 1, 2026. Before June 1, 2026, candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.**

Salary Information
