About the role

As the nation's energy market operator, we take our cyber security responsibilities very seriously. The cyber security team's vision is that AEMO has an embedded cyber safety culture that everyone understands, supports and lives day-to-day. AEMO is a recognised leader and exemplar of effective cyber security within the energy sector domestically and internationally.

 

As a Senior Analyst within the Energy Market Cyber Coordination team you will support the development and execution of a program of work to enable AEMO to effectively discharge its responsibilities in: supporting energy participants in improving their level of cyber security preparedness and maturity; Through analysis, stakeholder engagement and research, you will help build a stronger understanding of cyber security maturity and cyber risks across the energy sector, supporting informed decision-making and improved resilience.

 

This is a 24-month Fixed Term Contract.

 

Please note that to be eligible for this role you require Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a national security clearance. 

 

What you will be doing

  • Support the ongoing maintenance, development and adoption of the Australian Energy Sector Cyber Security Framework (AESCSF), including engagement with industry participants and stakeholders.
  • Support the coordination and facilitation of annual cyber security maturity assessments across the Australian energy sector, including participant engagement, data validation and quality assurance activities.
  • Analyse assessment outcomes and develop reports, briefing, presentations and other products that communicate sector-wide cyber security trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Undertake research and analysis of cyber security risks that may impact energy system security, resilience, and the reliable operation of Australia's energy markets.
  • Support the development of sector guidance, awareness initiatives and other activities that improve cyber security maturity and resilience across the energy sector.

 

What you will bring to the role 

  • Tertiary qualifications in computer science, technology-related fields, cyber security, energy-related fields or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in the energy sector, preferably supporting cyber security, resilience or critical infrastructure activities.
  • Knowledge of cyber security regulation and policy frameworks, particularly those relevant to critical infrastructure and the energy sector; e.g. the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act.
  • Experience analysing complex technical, operational, or strategic risks and translating findings into clear advice for decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality reports, briefing papers, presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
