Position Description

Performs routine compliance activities related to research compliance, including human subjects, animal care, conflict of interest and/or export control. This position is reserved for use in departments that have institutional oversight of research. Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all employees.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of or ability to learn and apply federal research regulations and ethical principles applicable to human participant research, including 45 CFR 46, 21 CFR Parts 50 and 56, the HIPAA Privacy Rule, FERPA, and the Belmont Report.
  • Ability to learn, analyze, and apply regulatory requirements and HRPP procedures with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to recognize routine compliance issues and seek guidance when matters require additional expertise or judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to complete assigned responsibilities, meet established deadlines, and contribute to the effective operation of the HRPP.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and respectful working relationships with researchers, students, staff, IRB members, and colleagues across academic and administrative units.
  • Commitment to professional development and willingness to pursue training and professional credentials relevant to human research protections, including the Certified IRB Professional (CIP) credential as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in job related field plus one year of related experience; OR a combination of related education and or experience equal to five years.

Texas Tech's Institutional Review Board (IRB) is charged with reviewing all human subjects research in accordance with federal regulations (45 CFR 46), state laws, and Texas Tech policies (TTU OP 74.09). HRPP supports the institution in promoting ethical conduct of human subject research and educates Texas Tech faculty, staff, and students regarding compliance and ethics. HRPP supports the IRB and maintains all IRB records including meeting agendas and minutes, policies, regulations, reference materials, and IRB protocols. HRPP provides research support through IRB development, web-based IRB submission, reliance agreements, and post approval monitoring.

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.

Hourly Pay Range

$21.39 - $27.84 - $34.23
