Job Description:

The Financial Aid Coordinator of Loan Processing & One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) Compliance within Louisiana State University’s Office of Financial Aid & Scholars will play a key collaborative role in advancing the university and meeting the student access objectives. The individual, with general oversight from the Senior Assistant Director of Financial Aid, is responsible for administering, monitoring, and supporting federal student loan processes associated with OBBBA related regulatory and operational requirements. This position ensures accurate loan origination, reconciliation, compliance, and student support while serving as a key source for implementing and maintaining new loan processes. Responsibilities include managing Schedule of Reductions (SOR), resolving loan rejects and discrepancies in the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) system related to Workday integration and processing issues, and supporting additional OBBBA related financial aid initiatives and compliance requirements.


Loan Processing & Administration (20%)

  • Process federal student loan records in accordance with institutional policies and federal regulations.
  • Review, originate, adjust, and reconcile loan awards and disbursements.
  • Monitor loan processing workflows to ensure timely and accurate delivery of aid.
  • Assist with implementation and ongoing management of new loan programs and requirements resulting from OBBBA.

 

Schedule of Reductions (SOR) Management (20%)

  • Review and process Schedule of Reductions (SOR) transactions.
  • Ensure reductions are accurately reflected in institutional and federal systems.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies affecting loan balances and student accounts.
  • Maintain documentation and audit trails for all SOR-related activity.

 

Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) & Workday Exception Resolution (20%)

  • Monitor and resolve loan rejects, warnings, and edit failures in COD.
  • Research and correct data discrepancies between Workday and COD.
  • Coordinate with Information Technology, Student Accounts, and Financial Aid staff to resolve system integration issues.
  • Track recurring errors and recommend process improvements to reduce future rejects.

 

Reporting & Process Improvement (20%)

  • Generate and analyze reports related to loan processing, COD rejects, SOR activity, and compliance metrics.
  • Identify trends and recommend corrective actions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in testing, validation, and implementation of Workday updates and financial aid system enhancements.
  • Assist with development and documentation of standard operating procedures.

 

Student & Campus Support (10%)

  • Accurately interpret and communicate financial aid policies, eligibility requirements, and procedures to ensure students and families fully understand their options and responsibilities.
  • Deliver timely, responsive, student-centered service by addressing concerns efficiently and professionally.
  • Develop communications related to new loan processes and regulatory changes.

 

Special projects as assigned (10%)

  • Including, but not limited to assigned committees and outreach projects. 
  • Represent LSU and the Office of Enrollment Management & Student Success at professional functions and recruiting events.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Meets eligibility to obtain National Student Loan Database System access and must not be in default on a student loan.
